Going Beyond PBL- Using the Design Thinking Model
Cost $325 per person. Group discounts for 5 or more participants from one school who register together. This workshop will be led by Dr. Meredith Harbord who is an expert in the field of design.
Many educators have heard about design theory, but few know how to put the skills into the classroom for the purpose of raising the rigor which improves higher level thinking skills. This concept is often associated with Stanford University where the model was transferred from design theory to business models and then to education.
Teachers often struggle to include and develop higher order thinking skills in daily practice as required for embedding 21st century skills within their existing units of work. The aim of this workshop is to give practical examples that can be adapted to any age group, subject or curriculum using the Design Thinking Model to engender change through classroom- based evidence. This course is appropriate for all educators; those who work with the students and those who want to understand Design Thinking to facilitate change in school culture and instruction.
Three graduate credits are available for eligible students enrolled in the SUNY Buffalo IGPE program for an additional fee of $390 payable to SUNY.
